Kara joined the American Society of Anesthesiologists in 2018 and is currently their Meeting Planner. In this role she is responsible for executing meeting and event strategies for ASA and related organizations to achieve the mission and values of the association while remaining compliant with rules and regulations for medical programming. She manages program logistics and all aspects of food and beverage for meetings of 15,000+ attendees and exhibitors.
Kara brings 8 plus years of meeting industry experience to the table from the special events and association world. In these positions, she tracked event registrations, developed topics and assignments with speakers, managed Board and VIP requirements, developed an accurate timeline and budget and negotiated terms of contracts with venues, speakers, entertainment, etc.
Kara holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication from Loyola University of Chicago and a master’s degree in Hospitality Management with an emphasis in Conventions/Meetings from Roosevelt University. Kara is an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) which is a professional development association and currently serves as co-chair of the Membership Recruitment committee. She is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Association Forum of Chicagoland and Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN). In her spare time, Kara enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading and volunteering at the local Boys and Girls Club of Chicago.
