I love living at the intersection of technology and the humanities, creating teams, troubleshooting, demystifying technology and trends, creating efficiencies and streamlining operations. As Director of Community of MPI and its Plan Your Meetings division, I help educate, inspire and empower meeting professionals at every level of their career through social media engagement, live event education, digital content and other innovative information gathering and sharing platforms.
I'm honored that my peers consider me a subject matter expert on technology, community building and digital storytelling. Industry associations such as MPI, PCMA, SATW and IAAP have commissioned me to create educational presentations, video series, guest blogs and webinars on tech tools, innovation, sustainability, storytelling, proving your value at work, event marketing and more. I often beta-test new technology for startups. In my spare time, I treat my kitchen like a chemistry set and work on creating allergen-free foods that will satisfy my family's bellies and tastebuds.
Before I became a writer who learned how to transmit stories across new media landscapes, I had a past life as a graphics designer in a marketing department. I also spent much of my young life pursuing a professional career as an actress, singer and improviser. Some of my creative projects were underwritten by organizations such as the High Museum of Art, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Dekalb Council for the Arts and the Georgia Department of Economic Development. I still love photography, painting and dance.
My specialties? Leading by example. Innovating in times of disruption. Embracing change. Giving birth to big, actionable ideas. Inspiring co-workers. Empowering the little guys and girls. Creating fun messaging like this: http://youtu.be/JcaIU87IeRw
